AUSTRALIAN golf fans will have access to live coverage of the inaugural Fiji International this week, an exotic event sure to attract lots of local interest.
The jointly sanctioned PGA Tour of Australia/OneAsia championship has lured a very healthy international field and will be played out against a dramatic pacific backdrop.
Fiji is one of world golf’s most alluring, emerging destinations and the 2014 event is being staged at the Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course, designed by local hero Vijay Singh.
Singh, who is also one of the headliners in the event, designed a course that blends world class golf architecture with dramatic landscapes. The Natadola Bay layout features a sparkling backdrop of coral reefs and the Pacific Ocean on 15 out of the 18 holes.
Joining Singh in a field that includes 120 players from 16 countries will be will be Major Champion and Presidents Cup Captain Nick Price, India’s top player Anirban Lahiri, China’s Liang Wenchong and Australia and New Zealand’s top contenders including Brendan Jones, Matt Griffin, Michael Hendry, Craig Parry, Scott Strange and Peter O’Malley.
In addition to the championship trophy the winner will receive the lion’s share of the US$1 million prize purse and Official World Golf Ranking points.
The tournament will be broadcast to a huge international audience and that will include 20 hours of live coverage into Australia.
The telecast will be live on FOX SPORTS 3HD and FOX SPORTS 3 from 10.00am to 3.00pm AEST Thursday and Friday and 9.00am to 2.00pm AEST Saturday and Sunday.2014 Fiji International Leaderboard
