Olsen likely 2013 US Senior Open starter

THE 2012 E-Z-GO PGA Legends Tour Order of Merit Champion Kym Olsen is a likely starter in the US Senior Open Championship next month.

Olsen, who stunned many with his multiple-win rookie season on the Legends Tour last year, came agonisingly close to immediately qualifying for the event at the recent sectional qualifying.

Olsen was one of more than 2,700 players to sign up for the qualifying event in San Diego and after surviving a three man playoff is now the first alternative for the senior major, to be played from July 11-14 at the Omaha Country Club in Nebraska.

With almost three weeks to go, Olsen just needs one player to withdraw from the current field – an odds on bet you would think.
