McIlroy Vs Woods in China

AFTER quite successful weekends in separate Asian based golf tournaments, Rory McIlroy will face off against Tiger Woods in a two man exhibition match in China today.

The world No.1 and No.2 will play an 18 hole match-medal event dubbed the “Duel at Jinsha Lake” in Zhengzhou.

The one day match will now be screened live in Australia on Fox Sports from 3.30pm – 8pm (AEST) and will also be available as a paid ($4.95) live stream on the internet.

It is reported Woods is receiving US$2 million for his appearance and the 23 year old Northern Irishman “just” US$1 million.

Both go into the match in good form with McIlroy staging a stunning late charge to finish just a stroke behind Peter Hanson at the European Tour’s BMW Masters in Shanghai, while Woods tied for fourth in Malaysia in the US PGA Tour’s CIMB Classic, won by Nick Watney.

“We’re going to try and put on a good show, shoot a low round and have a little bit of fun,” said Woods.
