SIXTY FOUR YEAR OLD Tom Watson is the oldest player in the field at the US PGA Tour’s Greenbrier Classic this week while boom Aussie 20 year old Oliver Goss is the youngest.

In between there is a quality field including reigning Masters Champion Bubba Watson and a host of winners from this season.

Goss, who will be playing just his third game as a pro, has burst on the scene this year with some stunning performances, from being lowest amateur at the US Masters to jointly leading the Quicken Loans National last week at the Congressional Golf Club going into the weekend.

Other Aussies taking part this week at The Old White TPC in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, include Stuart Appleby, who shot a 59 in the final round of this event in 2010 to win by a stroke, 2014 PGA Tour winners Steve Bowditch and Matt Jones, along with an in-form Marc Leishman, Robert Allenby, Scott Gardiner, Bronson La Cassie and Greg Chalmers, who led after the first round at Congressional.

 

Jonas Blixt is the defend champion with other chances including three-time current season winner Jimmy Walker, Brendon De Jonge, Steve Stricker and Kevin Na.
