MARC LEISHMAN is hoping to turn his recent good form into a win when the US PGA Tour contests the 2014 Waste Management Phoenix Open at the TPC Scottsdale in Phoenix this week.

The 30 year old Aussie had a fifth place finish in Hawaii and then tied for second along with Jason Day at Torrey Pines last weekend.

“I am driving the ball better than I probably ever have and I feel comfortable over every club, which is fairly rare for a golfer,” Leishman, who is still searching for his second tour victory following his maiden title at the Travelers Championship in 2012, told AAP this week.

“Every time I am over the ball I feel like I am going to hit a very good shot, which is vital to playing well.”

The other Aussies in the field this week are Robert Allenby, Aaron Baddeley, Steven Bowditch, Greg Chalmers, Matt Jones and Geoff Ogilvy.

Defending champion Phil Mickelson was in doubt for the event due to a lower back issue but confirmed on Wednesday that he would play.

The TPC Scottsdale course was built as a very spectator friendly venue and is always sure to attract a large and vocal crowd.

It is home to the now famous par three 16th stadium hole, scene of Jarrod Lyle’s hole in one in 2010, (an exuberant video [below] always worth a watch).
