WORLD NO.1 Yani Tseng leads a crack field assembled for the ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open at Royal Canberra Golf Club this week.

As the first event of the year on the LPGA Tour and co-sanctioned by the Ladies European Tour, there are stars aplenty from across the women’s golfing world.

Tseng said she was feeling confident in what will be her first hit out for the year but there is plenty of golfing talent standing in her way.

They include defending champion Jessica Korda, Australian golfing great Karrie Webb, World No.3 Stacy Lewis, American stars Michelle Wie, Lexi Thompson and Brittany Lincicome, Tiger Woods’ niece Cheyenne, form Aussie Stacey Keating, teenage amateur winner of last week’s New Zealand Open Lydia Ko and lots more.

Webb hasn’t played this course since she was a 14 year old schoolgirl – about Ko’s age in fact – and that reflects the diversity of the field.

Webb said Wednesday she was excited going into the event, and no doubt feeling confident following her win two weeks ago at the Australian Ladies Masters.

“I think there’s nerves on the tee of any tournament and then obviously for me and any of the Australians that are in the field,” the 38 year old said,

“The last couple of years with it being an LPGA event, I think there is an extra buzz and excitement to the event. So we’ve got a great field again this year and I think that adds to it.”

Australian Senior Golfer has made it to the event this year and will be bringing you all the action and photos from the course.

Anyone in driving distance to Royal Canberra would be crazy not to attend at least one day and see the ladies in action, while for those at home there is television coverage across all four days of the championship on ABC1.
