Star trio Sergio Garcia, Paul Casey and Adam Scott tee off on the 9th hole

THE 2019 Australian Open was played at The Australian Golf Club in Sydney for the 21st time.

The 104th edition of the national championship saw a high class field including Aussies Adam Scott, Marc Leishman, Matt Jones and Cameron Smith competing alongside international visitors Ernie Els, Sergio Garcia, Louis Oosthuizen, Paul Casey, C T Pan, Mike Weir and defending champion Abraham Ancer.

After an Australian Open defined by the smoke haze that often shrouded the course, former local resident Matt Jones won the Stonehaven Cup for the second time after hokding his nerve to overcome a late surge by Oosthuizen.

The accompanying photo gallery covers action from the four days of the event and the ultimate outcome.
