IT had to happen sooner or later …. the US team has won back the Ryder Cup for the first time since 2008.

There were some great performances all round from the US and European teams and for a while there it seemed like another “Miracle at Medinah” performance might be possible.

Unfortunately for Darren Clarke’s team they did fight back after a 4-0 clean sweep on the first morning but when Patrick Reed beat Rory McIlroy in the first singles match on Sunday they were always up against it, particularly in front of the very partisan and boisterous US fans.

So for Europe it turned into more of a “Horror at Hazeltine” …. maybe not so much.
