2015 Irish Open Preview: Leaderboard

Rory McIlroy

EVENT host Rory McIlroy missed the cut at the Wentworth Club in England last week but don’t expect him to double up in front of a home crowd at the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open at the Royal County Down in Newcastle.

McIlroy’s charitable foundation, the elegantly named The Rory Foundation, has helped draw a very strong field and will no doubt draw in the crowds as well.

Others taking part include recent Players winner Rickie Fowler, Sergio Garcia and the redoubtable Miguel Angel Jimenez, who probably hasn’t got through the truckload of champagne he was gifted last week for his 10th European Tour hole in one (on second thought, maybe he has already polished it off).

Aussies teeing it up include Marcus Fraser, Richard Green, Scott Hend, Wade Ormsby, Brett Rumford and Andrew Dodt.
