2015 Northern Trust Open Preview: Leaderboard

Bubba Watson and caddy 595

BUBBA WATSON is the defending champion this week as the US PGA Tour remains in California for the Northern Trust Open at the famed Riviera Country Club.

Watson has been reasonably quiet of late by his standards but you never know when the idiosyncratic American is going to bust out.

Australia’s Matt Jones led at Pebble Beach last week for a time and though he didn’t win still held on to finish a creditable seventh.

Jones is looking for another PGA Tour title to add to his Shell Houston Open win from April last year and the 34 year old continues to demonstrate he is more than capable of being a multiple winner.

Other Aussies lining up at the Los Angeles venue include Aaron Baddeley, Marc Leishman, Geoff Ogilvy, John Senden, Stuart Appleby, Steven Bowditch and Robert Allenby, whose last PGA Tour win was this event in 2001.

Other notable golfers include Dustin Johnson, last year’s runner up and a golfer showing some good form after his long layoff, and a featured grouping that wouldn’t be bad to follow, which comprises Fred Couples, Sergio Garcia and Australian Open champion Jordan Spieth.
