AUSTRALIAN golfer Robert Allenby is recuperating after a reported bizarre kidnapping and assault from a posh restaurant in Honolulu during the Sony Open.

Some of the details are a little confused but Allenby says he feels lucky to be alive after he was kidnapped, beaten and robbed  before being dumped about 10 kilometres away from the abduction site in a park.

Allenby was at the popular Amuse Wine Bar in Waikiki with a friend and his caddie when he believes he may have been drugged before he was taken to an underground car park, knocked out, robbed and thrown into the boot of a car.

Allenby fully explains the incident in this video conducted with the Golf Channel. Law enforcement officials, reportedly including the FBI, are investigating the incident.

Allenby, who missed the cut at the Sony Open, has 22 professional wins worldwide, including four on the US PGA Tour.

He is reportedly still considering if he will compete at the tour’s Humana Challenge in California this week.
