2011 British Open

THE 2011 British Open gets underway at Royal St George’s Golf Club in Sandwich, England this Thursday July 14.

The best golfers in the world, including 12 Aussies, will fight it out on one of the best courses in the world for golf’s oldest and most prestigious Major title.

This is the 14th time Royal St George’s will host the event. In 1894 it was the first course outside of Scotland to stage the Open.

Live television coverage in Australia begins at 6pm on Thursday.

1st Round

Live: Thursday 6pm to 4am. Replay: Friday 9am to 3pm

2nd Round

Live: Friday 6pm to 4am. (No Replay Saturday)

3rd Round

Live: Saturday 7pm to 4am. Replay: Sunday 9am to 12.30pm; 4.30 to 8pm.

4th Round

Live: 8pm to 4am. Replay: Monday 9am to 1pm.

Brian is a former Sydney journalist who didn’t have a skerrick of interest in golf till he hit his first ball at the age of 49 (and a half). Since then golf has just about overtaken his life. Brian founded Australian Senior Golfer in April 2008 and has since covered every Australian Open, Presidents Cups, World Cups and numerous other big men’s and women’s tournaments, spending days inside the ropes with the likes of Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Rory McIlroy, Tom Watson, Greg Norman, Adam Scott, Jason Day, Karrie Webb, and many others. He has also played in, and reported on, amateur tournaments, particularly senior and veteran events, around the country. Brian is a member of the Australian Golf Media Association.
