THE PGA of Australia has announced the continuation of E-Z-GO as the naming rights partner of the PGA Legends Tour for the next three years.
E-Z-GO has been associated with the growing seniors circuit since 2007, this latest deal taking the long-term partnership to 2016.
“Since humble beginnings the E-Z-GO PGA Legends Tour has grown to become an increasingly popular Professional circuit, taking the Legends and characters of Australian golf to all corners of Australia,” said Brian Thorburn, Chief Executive Officer of the PGA.
“This growth has only been possible with the continued support of E-Z-GO and we’re looking forward to developing this partnership towards ten years of affiliation.”
As part of their extended commitment, E-Z-GO will take ownership of the Tour as well as the all-important Order of Merit.
The E-Z-GO PGA Legends Tour Order of Merit is currently led by Peter “Chook” Fowler, closely followed by Rodger Davis.
E-Z-GO will also support the Tour’s annual awards night and become a major sponsor of the Australian PGA Seniors Championship, the most lucrative tournament on this year’s schedule.
Augusta Golf Cars Managing Director Raymond Georgiou said they’re pleased to continue their support for the Legends Tour.
“It has been very rewarding for us to watch and be a part of the E-Z-GO PGA Legends tour’s success over the last 7 years and we are very excited by the future growth potential of the tour going forward as it moves towards the 10 year anniversary,” he said.
Managed by the PGA, the E-Z-GO PGA Legends Tour is a Professional golf circuit for male golfers aged 50 and over. The Tour consists of over 50 tournaments contested throughout Australia and New Zealand with approximately $1 million in prizemoney on offer each year.
Players who regularly feature on the E-Z-GO PGA Legends Tour include former US PGA Champion Wayne Grady, Rodger Davis, Peter Fowler, Michael Harwood, Michael Clayton and Peter Senior.
