TWENTY TWO year old Korean golfer Seung-Yul Noh has become the latest to win his first title on the US PGA Tour with a two shot victory at the 2014 Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
Noh, the fifth Korean born golfer to win on the tour, fired a final round 1-under 71 to finish on 19-under and beat Americans Robert Streb (70) and Andrew Svoboda (69)at the TPC Louisiana.
Noh joins fellow Korean born players K.J. Choi (8 wins), Y.E. Yang (2), Kevin Na (1) and Sang-Moon Bae (1) with US PGA Tour victories.
Noh began the day with a two shot lead over Keegan Bradley and impressed golf fans with his composure and golfing talent. (Video : Noh’s “technically wonderful” golf swing)
He joins a growing list of debut winners on the tour in the 2013/14 season that so far includes Jimmy Walker, Kevin Stadler, Chesson Hadley and Aussie golfers Steven Bowditch and Matt Jones.
Stuart Appleby was the leading Aussie on Sunday continuing his recent encouraging form with rounds of 67-72-70-69. He finished at 10-under tied for 17th with Bronson La’Cassie (71) on 9-under tied for 21st and Robert Allenby (73), also on an upward trend, on 8-under tied for 25th.
Recent tour winner John Senden (72) finished on 7-under tied for 25th.
