THE US PGA TOUR plays the Northern Trust Open at the Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles this week – a famous course that has been a happy hunting ground for a number of Aussies.
That includes Aaron Baddeley and Robert Allenby, teeing up this week along with seven other compatriots.
Allenby’s victory here was way back in 2001 but Baddeley was much more recent in 2011. (Adam Scott won here in 2005 and Steve Elkington in 1995 when claiming his US PGA Championship)
Baddeley, after another change of coach last year, is hoping the return to winning territory will be a big boost.
“I feel like I’ve always played well here. I have had other chances to win and have contended so I always feel good coming here. It fits my eye,” Baddeley told AAP this week. The 32 year old has three US PGA Tour wins under his belt.
The other Aussies lining up this week are Marc Leishman, Geoff Ogilvy, Greg Chalmers, Stuart Appleby, Steven Bowditch, Matt Jones and John Senden.
The defending champion is America’s John Merrick with other featured golfers being Justin Rose, Hunter Mahan, Ernie Els, Dustin Johnson and three time winner this year Jimmy Walker.
