MIKE HARWOOD has continued his good 2012 form finishing just two shots behind the winner of the latest European Senior Tour event in Spain.
Harwood shot six birdies in the final round of the Benahavis Senior Masters and was well in contention among a number of golfers at the turn.
However, he collected three bogeys on the back to negate his three birdies and had to settle for a 3-under 68 and tied for fourth at the La Quinta Golf and Country Club.
Englishman Gary Wolstenholme was the winner, claiming his second European Senior Tour victory in the space of three weeks.
The 2011 Senior Tour Rookie of the Year emerged from the pack midway through a roller coaster final, thanks to five birdies in the space of six holes either side of the turn. He 5-under 66 saw him finish at 13-under to see off the challengers.
“I’m pleased I got things going so early in the season and we have a great run of tournaments now and it’s up to me to continue doing what I know I can do,” the 51 year old said.
England’s Mark James (67) and Welshman Mark Mouland (68)finished in equal second on 12-under.
England’s former Ryder Cup player Barry Lane (66) tied with Harwood on 11-under.
