THE 145th British Open graces Royal Troon in Scotland this week and there’s extensive pay tv coverage in Australia.
As continues to be the unfortunate situation in recent years, there is no live free to air Open Championship coverage in Australia.
For those with Fox Sports the live coverage of the first round begins Thursday at 3.30pm (AEST) (6pm tee off) and continues till 5am Friday.
It’s much the timing for the following four rounds.
We’ve written about the lack of free to air television coverage of one of the world’s great sporting events a number of times in past years [See this rant here , which is one of the stories located under the british open tv coverage tag]
There’s also the option of finding a viable live stream for those with good internet resources.
British Open TV Coverage Australia
Live on FoxSports 4 (AEST)
Thursday: 3:30pm – 5:00am
Friday: 3:30pm – 5:00am
Saturday: 7:00pm – 5:00am
Sunday: 6:00pm – 5:00am
A shame that a television station does not do a highlight show each night (as done for the Le tour France ) . So many would view it and probably better ratings than what is on offer at the moment.
It used to happen. Hopefully it will return in the near future.
