Can Tiger win a Major in 2014?

ONE of the most interesting questions in golf right now is whether Tiger Woods can win a Major in 2014.

What makes this even more interesting is Woods’ chase of all-time Majors titles winner Jack Nicklaus’s 18 titles.

Currently, the 36 year-old Woods has an amazing 14 Majors under his belt. But he hasn’t won one for six years since 2008 – and his much publicized problems off the course contributed hugely to his problems on it. In fact, Woods dropped all the way down the rankings to number fifty in the world at his absolute nadir.

Of course, now he’s back with a real vengeance all the way to the number one slot again – and he deserves a huge amount of credit for that. As readers of this site know all too well – improving your game at a relatively advanced age for a really top golfer is no easy task.

But he still hasn’t won a Major since his resurgence. What’s more, the bookmakers don’t think he’ll win one this year. He’s somewhere around 6/4 to win any one of the four Majors this year – and it’s around 8/11 that he won’t win any.

Now this is an interesting bet – particularly if you think he can win one as, of course, you’ll have four bites of the cherry, so it will at least keep you interested all the way to the US PGA.

And there may be a way you can have a go at multiplying your stake by two and a half times on Tiger to win a Major this year with free cash if you’re shrewd and lucky enough. With the au.32red.com casino, it’s possible to earn a maximum of $1,000 in free introductory bonuses and 32Red also has a sports book so you should be able to transfer money across. And as certain casino games like roulette get close to being even money chances, you’d have to be pretty unlucky not to have enough left for a decent-sized bet.

Of course, whether you get on the Tiger to win a Major is an entirely different matter. But you can bet your bottom dollar that he has an absolute burning desire to equal and maybe surpass the Golden Bear’s all-time record – whether he admits it or not.

Jack Nicklaus won his last Major aged 46 – but that was a one-off rarity. So at 36, if Tiger Woods is going to get there, he’s very probably going to have to make a start this year. All in all then, it looks like a decent bet – particularly if you can make it with free cash.
