THE PGA of Australia today launched PGA Travel, destined to become a leading provider of golf related domestic and international travel.
Operating as a division of the established Teed Up Golf Tours, PGA Travel is the PGA’s Official Golf Travel Supplier, and will offer exclusive ‘stay and play’ packages for PGA Tour of Australasia tournaments.
“Each year golf related travel impressively injects over $400 million into the Australian golf and tourism industries,” said Brian Thorburn, CEO of the PGA of Australia.
“Through PGA Travel, the PGA will aim to grow and leverage this opportunity for the benefit of the Australian industry, at the same time generating a new income stream to support our Membership and grow the game of golf.”
PGA Travel will also play a significant role in increasing interstate and overseas visitation to PGA Tour of Australasia tournaments, which will assist in securing funds to support golf at the elite level whilst promoting Australia as the must-visit golf destination.
“Australia is blessed with an abundance of world-renowned golf courses and PGA Travel will provide a unique opportunity to capitalise on the significant participation growth we are seeing in visitors from the Asia region.”
Initially, PGA Travel will operate as a division of Teed Up Golf Tours, already a well respected operator promoting both domestic and international travel opportunities.
However with the support of the PGA, Bede Hendren, Managing Director of Teed Up Golf Tours, says the new enterprise will provide significant benefits for both the consumer and the wider industry.
“Teed Up Golf Tours is one of Australia’s premiere golf travel businesses committed to delivering a great golf experience, every time.” said Hendren.
“PGA Travel is the only golf travel company with exclusive access to the PGA Tour of Australasia’s tournaments, and with the support of the PGA, we will be able to deliver exciting, never before seen experiences to golf fans everywhere.”
To launch the new venture, PGA Travel has released a series of exclusive stay and play packages for the upcoming PGA Tour of Australasia season, giving golf fans the opportunity to rub shoulders with the Professionals and play the championship courses in full tournament condition.
