FOR three days of great golf and social interaction the NSW Veteran Golfers Association Matchplay Championship in March is hard to beat.

Whilst the low handicappers will be battling it out for the overall title – and also now for Golf NSW Senior Order of Merit points – the event is played in three handicapped grades and also has age division winners.

That means golfers of all levels get a chance to get the competitive juices flowing on three great courses against golfers of a similar age from across the state – and for a very reasonable entry fee.

In 2016 the NSW vets strokeplay is in its 24th edition and is in Sydney’s west under tournament director Les Knox for the third consecutive time.

Les has done a great job organising the event for the past three years and things will probably not be able to run much more smoothly.

The field is restricted to 144 players and just $99 covers three rounds at three top courses plus the presentation lunch on the final day.

The 2016 competition kicks off on Monday, March 21 at Richmond Golf Club, with the second round Tuesday, March 22 at Penrith Golf Club and concludes Wednesday, March 23 at the top rated Stonecutters Ridge Golf Course, also the excellent venue for the presentation lunch.

Not bad value at all and you also have a great chance of scoring a trophy, which are as follows:

54 Holes NSWVGA Events

Strokeplay Champion and Winner of Des Coady Shield

(Sponsored by Warren Saunders Insurance Brokers)

Strokeplay Champion Runner Up

Overall Net Winner and Runner Up

3 Age Strokeplay Champions

Strokeplay Winner in each Grade

Net Winner in each Grade

18 Holes NSWVGA Events

Scratch and Net Winner in each Grade each day.

Nearest the pins for each grade and ball run down each day.

Entries Close Monday March 7, 2016

With the field limited to 144 golfers the tournament might well close out early, so get your entries in.
