DUTCH golfer Joost Luiten will be the defending champion and a hometown favourite when the European Tour tees up for the KLM Open this week.
The 28 year old Luiten beat veteran Miguel Angel Jiménez in a play-off for the title last year and local fans at the Kennemer Golf and Country Club will be hoping either he or one of the other 16 Dutchman in the field will once again be successful.
The Dutch supporters had to wait 10 years for a local winner prior to last year and another success would no doubt inspire them to keep coming back for more.
Despite the leading European players being in the US for the Tour Championship, there is a pretty decent field here, including Aussies Richard Green, Brett Rumford and Wade Ormsby.
