AMERICA’S Boo Weekley has ended a five year drought on the US PGA Tour, claiming the 2013 Crowne Plaza Invitational by one stroke.

Weekley shot his second consecutive 4-under 66 in the final round at the Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas, to finish at 14 under and overtake overnight leader and second place-getter Matt Kuchar (68). Defending champion Zach Johnson signed for a 66 to finish solo third at 12 under.

“It’s unreal,” Weekley said after what was his third TOUR win and with the prospect of his name being added on the Wall of Champions on the first tee. “Finally, I get to have my name up there. It don’t get better than that.”

Weekley had shown flashes of returning to form this year with three top-10s but was coming off his second missed cut of the year at last week’s HP Byron Nelson Championship.

Marc Leishman (73) and Stuart Appleby finished the best of the Aussies tied for 46th on 1-under.

Leishman, who was looking for a good finish to ensure a spot in the upcoming US Open, won’t be too happy with his five bogies in his final round 3-over 73. He opened with encouraging scores of 66 and 68.
