Fraser : "You have to take it on the chin."

THE 2012 BMW International in Cologne was a close fought affair with Australia’s Marcus Fraser having a one stroke lead going into his final hole in regulation.

A bogey and a fight back by England’s Danny Willett forced the championship into overtime.

Fraser, looking for his third European Tour title, unfortunately three-putted the fourth playoff hole to hand the title to the 24 year old Willett, a former English Amateur Champion.

“It was good fun,” 33 year old Fraser said. “Danny is such a great guy and he’s an awesome player – it’s the first of many tournaments for him, that’s for sure. It was nice to have a chance but unfortunately I couldn’t do it.

“If I keep giving myself chances, one day it might happen eventually. But as I said before, he’s a great player and he’s going to be a future star on The European Tour, there’s no question about it.”

“I’ve got to be pleased with the week. I played really well, three out of the four days and managed to make a few putts. It’s just the way this game goes sometimes, you have to take it on the chin and get ready for the next week.”

The second place finish earned Fraser €222,000 and lifted him into 15th position in the Race to Dubai with €610,000.
